I was pleased to have had the opportunity to catch up once more with photo soft-power supremo (yes my words!) Mandy Barker for this feature article. Finnish energy and marine multinational, Wärtsilä, chose the article for the cover of their stakeholder magazine Twentyfour7. I first met Mandy while working for a charity which had partnered with The Royal Photographic Society to award an 'Environmental awareness' photo bursary back in 2012. She was one of our winners. Her work has now been featured everywhere from CNN to the Smithsonian Institute. Completely unfazed by this, she continues to diligently chronicle our 'interaction' with the oceans in a way which draws us in, beguiles us and leaves us stunned and enlightened.
