ABOUT
DKMS is an international charity dedicated to fighting against blood cancer and blood disorders, by encouraging people to sign up to the stem cell register and give those in need of a transplant a second chance.
In an attempt to raise their awareness in the UK, DKMS decided to instigate an out-of-home advertising campaign across a number of UK cities. Focusing on the success story of Finn, a recent recipient of a stem cell donation now in full recovery who had been showcasing his miraculous recover on Instagram.
Calling on my expertise with previous similar projects, I was tasked with putting together a simple, yet bold ad campaign, using various elements of their branding. As well as designing the artwork at various sizes, I also consulted DKMS on commissioning a photographer and art directed the photoshoot, including writing a photography brief and creating a brand toolkit, including a DKMS colour palette at iPhone size for the photographer to have on hand (pictured), to help pick out a brand colour in the photography that could be used in the design. You can see this reflected in the choice of clothes chosen by Finn and his mum.
This campaign was rolled out at shopping centres, tram stops, football games and on public transport across the country.
