The Unofficial Guide to Paediatrics is part of the best-selling 'Unofficial Guide to Medicine' series of textbooks. The brief was to modernise the design, giving a more professional, approachable and contemporary look to the next generation of books, whilst maintaining an authoritative voice. Other key requirements were to improve sign-posting and ease-of-use for medical students.

The main challenge was developing an adaptive design which can evolve to included the diverse and complex range of specialisms in modern medicine, as the series continues to expand.

In this case then, 'The Unofficial Guide to Paediatrics' is a large format 700-page textbook, split into four main sections: Core Topics, Clinical Cases, Clinical Skills and Careers. It includes 1000+ colour images and illustrations, 200+ multiple choice questions, and 60+ real life clinical cases to bring paediatrics to life. The contributors range from professors of paediatrics, to medical students, to teachers, nurses, and midwives, meaning the book has influences from a truly multidisciplinary team at all stages of training. This book has relevance beyond examinations, for post graduate further education and as a day-to-day reference for professionals.
