ABOUT

‘Womanhood’ is a series of deadpan portraits exploring a variety of women and their relationships with outdoor water environments such as lakes and the sea. Each participant was photographed in a place she chose, where she feels comfortable and at ease, allowing the images to remain natural and unforced. The project reflects how open water supports both mental and physical wellbeing, offering calm, clarity, and resilience.

I avoided directing or staging my participants, focusing instead on stillness and subtle expression. Emotion is conveyed through their eyes and presence rather than posed gestures or smiles. The environment plays an active role, shaping each portrait and reinforcing a quiet connection between body, mind, and nature, capturing authentic moments of self-awareness and identity.
