ABOUT
This project was designed as both a creative lighting test and an educational resource for other photographers. The brief was to explore the capabilities of the GlareOne LED 300D BiColour and LED Tube 8 RGB lights in a controlled studio environment, with the aim of mimicking soft, natural daylight. I wanted to see how far I could push affordable lighting gear to achieve professional, atmospheric results.
My approach combined technical experimentation with visual storytelling. I worked with two models, using the GlareOne lights exclusively to shape a gentle, natural-looking aesthetic. The goal was to accentuate skin tones and facial features while maintaining a soft, cinematic atmosphere. Throughout the shoot, I documented the lighting setups and shared insights on-camera to help other photographers understand how these tools can be used in real-world scenarios.
The final result is a short video and a series of stills that showcase the lighting in action. The footage and images highlight the lights’ versatility and quality, especially in replicating a natural feel within a studio space. The video not only serves as a visual review of the GlareOne lights but also as an educational guide for photographers looking to elevate their work using accessible gear.
Conceptually, the project was about making high-quality studio lighting more approachable. In execution, it focused on minimalism, mood, and clear lighting breakdowns. And in terms of results, the project successfully delivered both inspiration and practical knowledge, demonstrating that affordable equipment, when used thoughtfully, can produce truly professional outcomes.
