ABOUT
This project takes viewers behind the scenes of a deeply personal portrait session focused on celebrating the individuality of children with differences. The brief was to capture the emotional depth and human connection behind my portrait work, while highlighting how photography can be used as a powerful storytelling tool, one that helps people feel seen, valued, and beautiful. This shoot also marked a significant shift in my practice, as I transitioned to working with a Leica camera to further support a more intuitive and intimate approach.
My approach to this project was grounded in tenderness, patience, and authenticity. I focused not just on capturing faces, but on revealing the vibrant personalities and unique stories of each child I photographed. Working with children who are often underrepresented in visual media required a great deal of sensitivity and trust. Every step of the process, from interaction to composition, was about making space for them to feel comfortable, confident, and celebrated.
The resulting video offers a behind-the-scenes look at how I use portraiture to connect on a deeper level. It shows how a camera can become more than just a tool, it becomes a bridge. The Leica’s intuitive design allowed me to stay present in the moment, fostering real connection and helping me to reflect each child’s individuality with honesty and care. The final portraits are full of warmth, strength, and humanity, a reminder that beauty exists in all forms, and that thoughtful storytelling can shift how we see and value one another.
Conceptually, the project centers on inclusion, compassion, and the power of visual storytelling. In execution, it leans into subtlety and sincerity, using light, connection, and presence to bring out each subject’s inner world. The result is a moving video and portrait series that reaffirms photography’s potential to elevate, dignify, and embrace difference in all its forms.
