ABOUT

This project offers a behind-the-scenes look at my unique approach to portrait photography, with a focus on representation, identity, and storytelling. The brief was to create a film that not only showcases my creative process but also highlights the importance of giving voice to individuals from diverse ethnic, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds. Supported by Canon, the goal was to shed light on how portraiture can empower subjects and spark meaningful dialogue.

My approach was deeply personal and collaborative. I worked closely with the model to create a safe, open space where she could express herself freely. This wasn’t just about capturing beautiful images, it was about building trust, boosting confidence, and allowing her personality and story to shine through. We filmed the full process, from initial conversations to the final portraits, to give viewers a genuine insight into how I work and why representation matters so deeply in my practice.

The result is a short, intimate documentary-style video that explores both the technical and emotional sides of portraiture. Viewers are invited into my world, not just as a photographer, but as someone who believes in using the camera as a tool for connection and empowerment. The portraits created during the shoot are raw, honest, and full of character, reflecting the individuality of each person I photographed.

Conceptually, this project centers on using photography as a platform for visibility and inclusion. In execution, it blends storytelling with candid, real-time footage of my process. The outcome is a film that educates, inspires, and reaffirms the power of photography to build confidence and shift narratives, one portrait at a time.
