ABOUT
Among Australian-born gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men, new HIV diagnoses had been falling for years. But for men arriving from Asia and Latin America, they hadn't. Not because the information didn't exist. Because the information didn't feel like it was for them. Cultural shame, language barriers, fear of visa consequences, distrust of authority. For migrant men into men, the gap between knowing and belonging was enormous.
emen8, Australia's leading sexual health initiative for GBMSM, knew it couldn't speak like government, or healthcare, or any institution someone might fear. It had to speak from within the community. So instead of telling people what they should do, we created something the community could pass on.
Men Into Men Need To Know. A simple, repeatable mantra that could open any conversation about sexual health, without judgement, shame or assumptions. We built an entire identity around that idea. A visual language designed to move across cultures and alphabets. Messaging built to cross barriers. Content designed to meet people where they were. And a brand platform that made sexual health feel less like something being handed down from above, and more like something that already belonged to them. Because when sexual health belongs to everyone, ending HIV becomes possible for everyone.
