ABOUT

On the 10th of August, I traveled to Uganda under the sponsorship of Chimp Management Ltd. We raised over a thousand pounds and provided clothing, toiletries, and stationery for families under the project.
Apart from fundraising, I produced a medium-length documentary in order to show the conflict between humans and chimps as a direct consequence of deforestation.

Uganda is a really important country for chimpanzee conservation. There are about 5000 chimpanzees remaining in the wild. Most of that population are within large government protected areas, such as national parks and forest reserves. But there’s still a side of that population remaining on local people’s land.

Hoima district is a region of Uganda where farming and timber selling is the main way of living to overcome the widespread poverty of the area. In ten years, 80% of the forest, the house of over 300 wild chimpanzees has been reduced to farmland, creating an adding conservation issue
