Shoot Gardening is a website which has everything a keen and not so keen gardener needs to know about gardening, plants, planning, care and advice. It has a large membership base with a very strong online community and a gardening e-commerce website.


Task
PeaPancake has worked with Shoot Gardening since 2006 and has been involved in many of the business decisions and multiple online and offline projects from trade show signage to package design through to website design and support.


Approach
In 2009 Shoot design asked PeaPancake to redesign and rework the website into something more appealing to users and to drive more memberships. After customer evaluation, determining the type of user coming to the Shoot website, personas were created and extensive site maps and wireframes were developed. Due to the size of the project and budgets, a phased approach was defined and implemented.


Result
After the launch of the new website, membership sign up greatly increased with 800+ new members joining each week.

Since then PeaPancake has been supporting Shoot continuously. New and exciting developments have and are continuing to happen with Shoot, including a refined user experience, updates to key pages and functionality and integration of the newly launched Shoot Marketplace, an e-commerce site much like Not on the High Street’s model of a central place for small gardening businesses to sell their plants and handmade products.
