ABOUT

There was an area in Heathrow between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, that the people who worked there called "no man's land". At any point time there would be a group of passengers staring at screens trying to work out where and how to get to their next flight, which was usually in another terminal. Quite often these people did not speak English and have never been to the UK before.

It was decided that a group of kiosks was needed help people get to their next flight. The kiosks had the ability to scan a boarding pass and provide the passengers' flight details and where they should go next. It also printed out a receipt to give them information to take with them.

I was tasked to create the series of screens for the kiosk in 10 different languages. I took Heathrow through a few UX workshops to determine the requirements of the kiosks. Wireframes were drawn up and designs created in the Heathrow look and feel. After the kiosks were in place, there was no longer a place called "no man's land" and the kiosks have been rolled out between multiple terminals in the airport.
