ABOUT

Background & Context:
The challenge was to create a visual identity for a Winnipeg Jets game that celebrated both Ukrainian heritage and the team’s legacy, connecting with the local Ukrainian-Canadian community. The design featured the blue and yellow of the Ukrainian flag, along with traditional black, red, and white embroidery colors, integrating symbols like the eight-pointed star and trident to represent life, energy, beauty, and wisdom.

The goal was to merge sports branding with cultural elements in a way that resonated with fans and worked well for merchandise. The design had to be adaptable for future events while honoring Ukrainian heritage.

Results:
The branding was a success, especially during the Winnipeg Jets vs. Anaheim Ducks game, where merchandise like hats, jerseys, and t-shirts sold out fast, reflecting the strong support of the Ukrainian community in Manitoba. The design received notable media attention from NHL website and CBC News, increasing fan engagement and strengthening the Jets' connection with the local culture.
