About me
I am enquiring whether you have any vacancies within your company for the duration of the summer period, and possibly longer on a part time basis.
I have just completed Year two of the BSc (Hons) in Industrial Design at Swansea Institute of Higher Education (University of Wales).I have achieved a result equivalent to a first for this year. As the course covers several different modules associated with Industrial Design it would benefit my studies greatly to gain as much professional experience as possible working within a specialist employment environment. I have also completed an academic paper on sustainability which has been accepted by three separate review panels on behalf of the Cumulus organization of international design schools, I also had the opportunity to present my paper at the Cumulus conference in Germany on the 15th June this year, my paper is also due to be published by the end of this year in the Cumulus journal.
As my attached CV shows I have considerable experience in the Boat Building industry, where my job role was equally as diverse as Industrial Design. My experience as Senior Marine Technician gave me the opportunity to deal with clients at all levels from senior management within large organizations such as Avon Inflatable to our private local client base. Whilst in my last position at Celtic Marine Boat Builders it was necessary for me to learn computer aided drafting (AutoCAD) as the manager of the company had left and this left the company without the necessary skills to tender for large projects. It was as a result of his departure from the company that I enrolled on the CAD course of my own volition to ensure the company was able to offer a drafting service to our major client which consequently proved successful. As my responsibilities at Celtic Marine increased I became instrumental in ensuring that the company began making a profit consistently for the first time. This was achieved by ensuring each project was correctly quoted for and all deadlines were met. Also, I was fortunate to work with a professional team with a variety of skills which gave me the opportunity to learn and implement managerial skills.
Although my last position was fulfilling, I felt I needed to invest further in myself by studying for a degree, and made the decision to enroll at Swansea Institute to study Industrial design.
I feel that my work experience and my desire to constantly update myself would be an asset to any organization where team work and professionalism is essential. I would be grateful if you would consider my application and would be pleased to supply further information if required in support of my application.
I am available for an interview at short notice should you require.
