Llum, pronunciation 'youm' means ‘light' in Catalan.
The words structure, balance and growth were the starting points for my project.
We buy lamps to produce extra light and add decoration to the the spaces in which they are placed. We buy flowers to create a more relaxing and cheerful environment; so why not combine them?
I started to think about how light and flowers could be linked. I looked at what plants need to grow particularly focussing on the kind of light they need. My aim was to create something aesthetically pleasing at the same time as being functional.
The design consists of a light and a structure that balances two ceramic plant pots. Both of these objects are joined by a plastic strip that allows you to rotate them around each other. You can add to the arrangement by incorporating more plastic strips to link more lights/ plant structures to one another.
