‘In a Mellow Tone Band’ is a jazz combo, which performs well-known tunes from Broadway Musicals and the Swing Era,
always respecting the tradition of their original sound. They wanted a new logo for the band for the new season of gigs starting in September 2018. After playing around a lot with the letters, I decided not to go so much with the symmetrical aspects of the word "mellow". I wanted to emphasise that they are a lively jazz/swing band that respects the tradition of the 20s/30s music they play, so I needed a more retro look, focusing on simplicity and typography. The circle would look good for stickers and on photos and posters. The type and the colours are reminiscent of early 20th Century posters, giving the needed retro look.
