I designed and created a set of six birthday cards to be sold online, through my market stall and in local shops. I wanted to use foil embossing, but to reduce the cost I decided to create a design that only required one die to be created and changed the digital print behind the foil, to create six cards with a coherent theme running through the series.

I drew the original typography for the foil embossing by hand originally before scanning it and tracing it using a Wacom tablet and creating the finished artwork in Adobe Illustrator. The bunny, pineapple, ant and diamond artwork are also originally drawn freehand before being digitally finished.

I chose 300 gsm laid card stock for printing to create a luxury feel consistent with the foil embossed finish, and opted for kraft paper recycled envelope to maintain a small batch, locally crafted feel and stop the project from feeling to commercial.
