Aokigahara is a forest in Japan. It is the second most popular place in the world to commit suicide. I wanted to use the forest to modernise traditional views on death in Japan. The publication itself covers a number of different areas of Aokigahara, including the folklore surrounding the myths and legends of what lies inside the forest. There is an interview with the groundskeeper of the forest, and accounts from people who have been inside. All the project photography is original.
