Dear Mr/Mrs,

I am writing in response to your advertisement for a creative recruiter.

I have just finished my degree in American Studies at University of Kent; graduating in July of this year. I chose this particular degree because it allows me to study a range of literature and history modules and therefore extend my competency in other areas, for example research and analytical skills. I also opted for this particular degree because I have a great interest in reading, and this course allowed me to study a wide range of texts, in particular American literature, which broadened my library. The history modules particularly helped me with my writing skills as my assignments included Primary Source Analyses, and research projects.

I completed one dissertation during my second year and am in the process of writing my final one which has broadened my skill set. I really enjoy these research projects because they allow me to expand my research skills, using varied different medias. I feel they have prepared me somewhat for my future aspirations, as I have become adept at sourcing relevant information and creating an extended piece of writing within a deadline.

I have a strong desire to work within the media and I believe I have the potential and the passion to work within your company because I have a range of skills and interests that fit perfectly with your line of work. I have great people skills; I am extremely approachable, friendly and confident. I also have a great passion for writing, and am currently involved with my University Newspaper, The InQuire in which my most recent contribution was a review of Record Store Day 2011.

I am eager to develop my skills further, to gain work experience and begin working in the media and I believe your establishment would be perfect for this. I am very flexible regarding potential interview dates, and I am also available to begin any form of work immediately.
