About me
I am interested in this post as I feel I have the ability to perform with what is required, especially with broadcast experience and an awarded mentorship with a well-established film production company under my belt. I am a very enthusiastic, and hard working individual who welcomes a challenge and always eager to learn from the best.
This particular role provides me with the opportunity to learn from professionals and put my other acquired skills into practice. These include organisational skills I have developed throughout university and whilst on my awarded ongoing mentorship with Blue Hippo Media. I have had to take initiative with many projects as I have worked individually many times. I am involved with Blue Hippo Media with shoots but more recently with research and development (pre production) for their ongoing projects, which includes a series of films, based on Mental Health issues, and a documentary which is in post-production about the dying independent record stores of Britain (entitled Last Shop Standing.) Much of this is voluntary work however not all of it has been so.
I have spent several months working as an FCP editor for Sikh Channel, which is a charity and community service channel that is available online and broadcasted 24 hours a day. During my time at the channel I had learnt how to keep up with extremely tight deadlines and work independently (as I had regular programming I was assigned to.) I did not have a creative team to work with and the senior editor was kept very busy with his own edits, meaning I had to handle my time very efficiently (capturing and logging between 2 machines, working on an edit on one whilst capturing on another etc.) I was editing and preparing footage for broadcast and online upload. I had edited interviews, talk shows, promos and festivals.
I have worked on corporate projects as well as the creative; these include filming and editing talks and lectures, producing music videos, and promos. I have worked purely in Final Cut Pro, and have some basic knowledge of special effects software such as After Effects and Motion. I can colour grade and sound mix to a basic standard level and I have also used Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to accompany support materials for edits. I have a basic knowledge of Compressor and DVD Studio Pro also.
I am interested in this post as I would like to develop my skills further. I am an eager individual and feel that even though I may not have substantial experience behind me, I certainly have the drive and passion. To work for an especially well known and successful organisation would only demonstrate my ability to learn, progress and be part of a multiplatform company.
When working towards a brief, I don't allow lack of skill or knowledge to interrupt my workflow, as a fast learner I believe that I can achieve what is required of the brief through hard work, dedication and communication. This is why I feel I am right for this role.
