This is the first of an ongoing series of images taken on the photographer’s first travels to Japan. There is a real sense of the ‘outsider’ looking in; an observer documenting foreign phenomena for the first time. Each subject in the image feels emotionally distant, conveying a sense of isolation despite Japan being three times more densely populated than Europe.
These images are part of a bigger body of work entitled ‘Observations: Japan’ by the artist working towards a book publishing in the future.
