About me

I graduated from the Manchester Metropolitan University in June 2005 with a degree in Design and Art Direction. I coupled learning with practical experience by working on numerous design projects, which helped me to form a basis for my career direction. My final year university project involved the complete creation of a publication titled 'Visual Fusion'.

My first employment after university I secured a position with Future Publishing in Bath. I was a member of the Art Studio made up of a supportive design team which provided design cover for the magazine teams across the company. I developed a better appreciation of the designer's role and I was able to develop my skills in the application of type in design, as well as the craft involved in the construction of good, 'practical' design. I developed a better understanding of grid, layout, illustration, typography, image and colour. All of which play a part in visual presentation. I feel a level of confidence in combining these elements to form good design relationships.

I am currently employed by Watermark Media, in London as Head Designer. I work on a number of design projects which can range from a few hours to a few weeks. I have been involved with advertising pitches for one of the clients I work with. This involves working with the marketing team to develop suitable creative concepts - through to creating pitch ready art-work. Re-branding and working to specific guidelines has been a requirement.
