About me

Multi award-winning and forever curious, this obsessively-driven Singaporean brims with creative energy and a passion for design perfection. Upon founding his independent experience design boutique Good People Basically (GPB) in 2017, the brand quickly built a reputation as a growing creative force. A raft of major business wins and award-winning collaborations includes: Wharf's Chengdu IFS, Reckitt, Haagen-Dazs, Mercedes Me, Estee Lauder's Dr. Jart+, Orient Securities, Stadium Goods, Jidu Auto, and Super Bock.

Alvin was responsible for making China's first virtual influencers in 2018, a program that accumulated over 42 million total impressions on the Chinese Internet and 17,000 followers on Instagram. His other creation The Prismverse(TM) went beyond traditional ad shows to win multiple prizes from architectural bodies including Frame and Golden Pin. GPB has also evolved into designing other consumer products and apparel through another startup label called Meka.

His creative leadership has received recognition on the Directory Big Won Ranking and the Gunn Report. Alvin's work garnered over 200 international statuettes awarded in under 2 years (). His 'Old Parts for New' campaign for ORBIS was named in WARC World's Top 10 Smartest Marketing Campaigns of the Year.

The former agency creative chief has represented China and Hong Kong as an advisor, mentor, and jurist at Cannes (twice), Young Cannes (multiple), Spikes Asia (three times), London International, and the New York Festival. The China Advertising Association enlisted his expertise to help China select talent for the Young Cannes Lions 2014, 2015, and 2016. Alvin was honored by the Association when team China won 2 Gold, a Silver, and Bronze across 3 years.

His pioneering spirit and creative contributions to China have been studied by both Fudan University and Nankai University.

Alvin is the owner of GPB Shanghai, Good People Basically Hong Kong, Think Magazine, and Fashion Label Black of Colour.
