ABOUT
AI – 'artificial intelligence' makes me uneasy. I worry that film photography is fading; thankfully,
our B/W handprints will last for ages...
Shooting on film is like an artist staring at a blank canvas pondering his masterpiece –the brushes, paints and palette are the tools that require dexterity to bring 'to-life' what was imagined by the artist. Similarly, a photographer is a ‘mechanical’ artist who crafts his film (our canvas), mixing both camera 'n lenses (our brushes), bringing to-light Silver-Gelatin emulsions (our paint) demands foresight to achieve great handprints!
AI is very seductive with its ability in manipulating digital files. Or, manufacturing images you failed to achieve while out on location... AI is as ‘cold’ as it is extraordinary!
(However, I prefer brewing grounded beans, over that of modern instant coffee powders...)
NB: This collection is dedicated to my dear friend & master-printer in the art of analog photography; Dennis da Silva... Thank you, Baldy, it is you who encouraged me! Ken.
