Throughout my travels to the American South-west during the summer of
2022, conservation based photography was the key focus for my MNHP212
portfolio. Starting in Yosemite my travels would take me through some of the
most iconic landscapes in the world, with the goal of making a difference to
the conservation of these areas whilst exposing the uncertainty of
preservation for years to come. Having planned every aspect of this trip my
journal was filled to the brim with information, concepts and ideas of how to
go about this portfolio. Climate change being one of the largest visible
damaging factors to these landscapes meant it had to be a crucial aspect to
focus on. Personally this portfolio is a peace letter to those who aren’t as
aware of the issues climate change present, and as an Arizonan these
landscapes were a part of my childhood. Through education and spreading
awareness I hope that this portfolio can make a difference to the uncertain
road we face in the future.
