Luton Culture’s two museum sites wanted to develop and design a programme brochure promoting their services of offering a whole day’s exciting learning experiences for schools through hands-on workshops led by museum staff and cross-curricular exploration of its sites, supported by the Trust’s brand new learning resources. This programme was developed over a year in consultation with teachers with the aim of meeting the changing demands of the curriculum. The conceptual design included its own unique set of guidelines and visual style palette of colours and character illustrations. Illustrations have been used to easily convey different themes in the schools services. Various character heads, speech/thought bubbles and icons were used to create different visual conversations. This shows how striking the visual style would be, positioning the service as inspirational, dynamic and expert.

Supporting the main programme brochure, I designed a set of leaflets, letterheads, a
powerpoint presentation, promotional items and and e-newsletter, providing schools with a template which was easily updatable. The illustrations, colour palette and type style helped start to build recognition of the service. The strong look and feel would start to feel familiar and memorable to the audience and as all materials will follow the same visual style, each item will help to build brand memorability.
