ABOUT

THE CLIENT: Luton Culture
PROJECT: Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition - Stockwood Discovery Centre
SIZE: Various
SOFTWARE: 3D Sketch Up, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

Here are a few examples of some of the exhibition design I was involved in at Luton Culture. The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition (for example) is an exhibition that tours the UK and internationally every year. In 2009 Stockwood Discovery Centre hosted the exhibition from November to January. Working alongside the exhibition officer I worked on 3D SketchUp to do the initial planning, with a virtual walk through. The keys to creating a successful exhibition are visibility, accessibility and visual impact. Our unique exhibition space is designed to avoid space restrictions, proximity to any physical barriers that may obscure your vision or detract from its effectiveness. Internal walls can be moved and set to fill any space, so the space isn’t rigid and stagnant - I had the luxury of having a blank canvas to work with.

Once I knew how many photographs were going to be shown it was a case of planning how best to use our permanent and movable wall sections to best effect, showing off the
photographer’s work in all its glory. Although complex, I still retained its intuitive, visual, and vivid way of communication and helped to enhance visitors engaement.
