ABOUT
The City of Lugano hosts an annual conference whose aim is to promote sustainable mobility. It focuses particularly on new vehicles with alternative fuels, electric and hybrid vehicles. In 2012 we were asked to come up with an idea to raise awareness around this event with a dedicated event/guerrilla action.
My idea was to realise a gadget that would convene the idea of clean evergy. It had to be small in order for people to take it with them, and something that would be of a use once the conference was over.
The chosen gadget was a light-bulb-shaped keychain.
The city has a beautiful park and a tree-lined lakeside walk. First part of the action was to place hundreds of these bulbs on plant pots and beneath the trees to give the idea that the energy would come from the plants. A tag, similar to those you would find when buying plants, was attached to the keychain. This tag conveniently contained the event information. This tag contained maininformation about the event.
Second part consisted on isolating a populated area where trained staff would give the gadget to passers, inviting them to come to the event.
Passersby' reaction especially in relation to the first action was incredible. Kids were blown away by seeing those bulbs on, and parents were really please with the gadget, acknowledging how useful could be with limited light. Demand was so high that we ran out in no time.
I was extremely pleased as I took this project on from the brainstorming till the production process, from the distribution till the photo report we submitted afterward.
