Watch brand Alexandre Meerson specialise in the creation of bespoke timepieces, and regularly craft unique timepieces to match the client’s desires and life story.

When a collector requested the creation of a watch to celebrate the anniversary of his family’s construction company, I thought a staircase, meandering endlessly upwards, would perfectly symbolise the occasion.

The hypnotic swirl of a spiral staircase finds it’s way onto the watch dial with raised steps, endlessly rotating between three heights, in a brilliant play on scale and symmetry. The repetition and movement of the design purposely lead the eye to the centre of the dial. Simple hands and alone number twelve balance the dial, bringing harmony to the design. The customisation was completed by the addition of the engraving of the company’s establishing year on the bottom lug.
