ABOUT

This project is a durational installation performance that fuses contemporary dance and digital technology to create a novel mode of expression. Inspired by Noh, a traditional Japanese performance genre that originated in the 14th century, this piece utilises augmented reality (AR) filters that represent life and death, and that can be overlaid on any scene at any time by the viewers. These filters enable the viewers to participate in the performance by generating their own narratives based on their interpretations of the performance. Through their mobile devices, they perceived the elements that transcend physical reality.

We employed 3D software to design all the assets, which we then transferred into Lens Studio to produce the AR filters. With the assistance of LiDAR technology, we were able to track and position the AR effects in the environment we were in. After the performance, we created a durational installation video using 3D and editing software to showcase our work.
