I was set the task to create a rough guide for a city that 'Rough Guides' doesn't currently cover. I have always been a huge fan of the city of Manchester and I spend alot of time in that city so I decided to use this opportunity to discover 'hidden gems' within the city.

I spent a lot of time getting in touch with different establishments and getting permission to come and take photos of their bars, restaurants, etc. I thought that getting authentic photography of the places would not only allow met o meet the people who own them but allow me to create a feel and vibe for each of the different places I wanted to cover.
I knew that I wanted to create something that could be easily carried, not heavy, not too bulky and can just be folded and put into a bag. That's why I decided to go for a traditional newspaper as they're easy to fold and are lightweight. In the end I had created a full 42 page editorial guide on the hidden gems of Manchester, here are a few of the pages.
