ABOUT

This project began as a creative challenge: What if What's Eating Gilbert Grape were introduced to a modern audience today?

Rather than recreating the original trailer, I approached the film as if I had been asked to cut a new theatrical campaign from scratch. I revisited the footage to uncover the emotional core of the story, building a trailer around Gilbert's internal conflict, his relationship with his family, and the quiet weight of responsibility that defines the film.

Every editorial decision. from scene selection and pacing to music, sound design, and structure was made to create anticipation while preserving the authenticity and emotional depth that make the original film so timeless.

This personal project reflects the kind of storytelling I enjoy most: finding the emotional thread within hours of footage and shaping it into a compelling narrative that invites an audience to feel something before they've even seen the film.

Role: Concept, Story Editing, Trailer Editing, Sound Design & Finishing.
