ABOUT
The brief:
BeatBullying.org is The BB Group’s flagship peer mentoring programme, which offers young people the opportunity to support each other and receive professional support from counsellors via our online chat facility.
The decision has been made to:
Merge the content and membership from sister programme MiniMentors.org and the BB Group’s (now archived) corporate and fundraising website into BeatBullying.org
Introduce the programme to a number of different EU countries.
The latter is much more complicated than simply translating the existing content, due to the differing legal, governmental and cultural contexts in different countries, and funding restrictions that limit the provision of service outside the UK.
The work:
My role included:
Devising a high-level content plan for merging the content from three websites into one coherent sitemap, in collaboration with the Heads of BeatBullying and BB International
Incorporating language and region options into the existing website. This work included mapping out user pathways for a wide range of different combinations of language and region, which revealed a lot of potential pitfalls early on.
Displaying and restricting content based on the user’s age, region, and spoken languages, to ensure that each user is shown content that is relevant and appropriate to them, while offering as much freedom of choice as practical.
Creating wireframes for an ‘interim’ solution, bringing across as much content from the defunct corporate website as possible while the full rebuild is completed.
