ABOUT

Decision Capital Ltd were a start-up working on on a political opinion polling platform called Numbok. As their platform was still in the development stages and not, in any meaningful way, ready for general public consumption, In order to help the name gain traction, they bought me on board to device a content strategy .

We decided, in the end, on using three types of content, all delivered through their online journal: the Numbok Nugget, the Numbokrunch and The Week in Review. The Nugget was a breakdown of a certain government spending issue (think housing, GP surgery funding, the cost of cutting classroom sizes etc.) which was turned into an easily digestible, easily shared infographic. The Numbokrunch was an effort for Numbok to remain unbiased and presented two opposing viewpoints from different places on the political spectrum, written under a nom de plume by myself and the company's economic researcher. The week in review was a longer length blog post, written and posted every Friday, which would react to recent news and look over the content we had released that week.

After I properly implemented and executed the new content strategy, the blog jumped from about 10 readers a month (yes, really, 10!) to an average of around 2,000 readers a month. Their social media likes, followers and engagements also grew as the more interesting content (particularly the Numbok Nugget infographics) took a hold.
