Adam Wasik Creative Designer & Illustrator

ABOUT

Test animation for “Never Talk to Strangers”, a future project loosely based on Mikhail Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita.

Mikhail Alexandrovich Berlioz and the poet Ivan Nikolayevich Ponyryov, who writes under the pen name Homeless, walk at Patriarch’s Ponds.

Illustration, animation and music: Adam Wasik

Created in Moho Pro, this test explores the capabilities of its rigging system and the potential for combining vector illustration with the textures and visual character of traditional printmaking.

The illustrations combine monotype and collagraph prints with vector elements created in Moho. Animation: Moho Pro. The soundtrack sketch was composed using instruments and libraries from Orchestral Tools, Cinesamples, Spitfire Audio, Steinberg, UAD and Embertone.

The test focused on four areas:
• Examining whether Moho’s rigging system could improve the efficiency of my animation process.
• Evaluating how well the analogue images would retain their textural qualities in Moho and after video encoding.
• Investigating whether native vector-based elements, making full use of Moho’s animation capabilities, could be seamlessly integrated with scanned analogue images without compromising my illustration style.
• Assessing the extent to which the animation could be completed entirely within Moho, without relying on post-production or compositing in other applications.

Overall, Moho exceeded my expectations in all four areas.

This project was made possible thanks to public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
