ABOUT

The project originates from the lowercase letter “g”, whose repeated ear forms a jester’s cap, while its loop becomes the dragon’s belly. In this single sign, I condense meanings traditionally associated with the grotesque – such as tragedy and comedy, fantasy and realism – while preserving a form appropriate to theatre for children and young audiences. The design also references Stańczyk and the Wawel Dragon, iconic symbols of Kraków, thereby grounding the sign in a specific local and cultural context. The remaining lettering extends this concept, expressing the grotesque as an idiom of deformation within the sign itself.
