About me

Hello,

My name is Adam Catlow and I have graduated from the University of Gloucestershire with a 2:1 BSc in Multimedia, I have recently returned from a work placement in America at a children's summer camp, and I'm now looking for my first break in industry as a website designer/developer.

I have worked on a number of websites and media applications for both professionals and personal friends in order to enhance my skills and portfolio.

A major achievement was during my third year university advanced group project where we created a number of products including a racing game in Unity3 which was based on Java, a carbon calculator which was created in Flash and used Actionscript 3 and a number of custom classes and finally their was a website that was created to market the products but also to be used as a progress blog as the project progressed -this site was dynamic and used Wordpress for the blog area of the site (a mobile optimized version of the site was also created and a custom PHP direct script was implemented to detect mobile devices and automatically re route the user to the mobile version). The project won the IET (Institute of Engineering and Technology) award for Technical Merit and was also feature on BBC News Points West(this can be seen through my personal website.

I have a passion for website design/development and also Flash design and development, I feel I have a good mix of skills both design and technical which give me a solid understanding of the web development cycle.

I am competent in a number of software packages and use a variety of software including all Adobe software to create different media. I do not limit myself to web design and development as I also enjoy video editing and design for print along with 3D modelling.

I am competent in HTML, XHTML, CSS, Javascript, Jquery libary, PHP and MySQL (currently enhancing my competency and advancing my skills in this area). I'm also competent using CMS systems including Joomla and Wordpress and have integrated both into a number of site I have developed, I have also created custom templates for both.

I am currently on a personal basis studying HTML5 and CSS3 and other new technologies with a view to integrating these into future projects.

Web functionality and usability are key to the success of W3C standard sites and I ensure that my sites follow these practices.

I keep up to date with latest SEO trends and theories and the sites I have made rank first page Google, Yahoo and Bing.

I am a hard worker, and I'm always willing to put in the extra time to learn new technologies/software and systems.

During my time studying I worked part time and have worked well with customers and been a team member of a high paced customer focused environment, I have very good communication skills and have performed a number of administrative duties aswell.

I feel I have all the required skills and more to perform the role to a high standard, and think Im a suitable candidate for the position
