ABOUT
"Hollywood's Weirdest Record Label" is a short film celebrating the creative spirit of the underdog. The 1980’s L.A strip was a hotspot for metal bands trying to land a record deal… Some found fame while most found tinnitus!
How did you make your band stand out?
From furry sided vinyl to sticking shredded dollar bills into wax, these unique records are all made by one man, David T. Richards.
From a garage located in Hollywood, USA, David explored what a vinyl record could be and gave the young hopeful metal bands a taste of stardom in the process.
During lockdown 2020, these records are a breadcrumb trail for failed journalist,
Scott Willis, to uncover the myths of Hollywood’s weirdest record label, Azra Records.
Hollywood’s Weirdest Record Label is a speed metal patchwork blitz into LA’s 1980’s underground metal scene and a insight into the world of outsider art in vinyl records!
