Grand Union has been a market leader in London’s bar scene since 2006.

Over the course of 7 years the company has established a portfolio of premium, highly successful venues in central London, and the concept has acquired a passionate, devoted following of 25 to 35 year old professionals and hipsters.

We have developed an all-inclusive service for Grand Union—designing a stunning responsive website to reflect Grand Union’s refocused brand which has been tightly integrated with our powerful Nudge CRM platform.

We took Grand Union’s established brand and repositioned it to be more energetic and engaging. This encouraged customers to spend more time on the site and drive conversions.

Nudge ( ) provided Grand Union with facility to easily manage all of their venues’ online operations. Online reservations, table management, eMail marketing, loyalty, enquiry management and more are all driven through the Nudge platform.

Considering the fact that 35% online traffic on Grand Union website is generated by users on phones and tablets, the only reasonable choice was to develop a responsive layout to provide an optimal viewing experience—easy reading and navigation with a minimum of resizing, panning, and scrolling, automatically adapting to given screen size—across a wide range of devices. Great care has been taken to ensure that the site is as fast to load on a mobile devices as it is on desktop computers. We accomplished this by completely revising our workflow, designing and developing for mobile devices first and progressively enhancing the experience for more capable devices. As a result we managed to decrease the load for smartphones by nearly 40%, which not only reduced the bounce rates but most importantly made browsing more pleasant.

We ensured that the whole website was also optimised for major search engines so they could provide richer and more accurate information in their listings. For example, location, opening hours, reviews and contact details of all venues will appear in SERPs.
