ABOUT

The Children’s Society work with the most disadvantaged children to ensure that they are loved, valued and listened to. They fight against childhood poverty, harm and neglect.

The campaign brief was centred around a community picnic. Working in collaboration with copywriter Catherine Prescott, I ran a creative workshop with the client team to determine a proposition from which the idea of ‘celebrating childhood’ developed. This idea led to the name of ‘The Big Summer Do’ and looks back to the childhood summers of the target audience but with a vision of the future where disadvantaged children are free to be children again.

The retro style visual identity included bunting, space hoppers, games and activities including a polaroid style photography. The dotted lines around the illustrations emphasised the pick ‘n mix nature of activities from which the organisers can choose for their own event.

The campaign was launched with a direct mail drop to existing supporters, advertising in M&S magazine and infographics in social media.
