Ted Lim, Chief Creative Officer of DBA APAC, has proven to be a strategic creative leader and savvy businessman. Ted's philosophy, "Fortune Follows Fame. Do famous work that moves people and money will follow," distils his approach to work and underscores the "Think Different, Do Better" culture which he has cultivated in Dentsu. Not only does Ted challenge people to go beyond their comfort zone but he has also helped empower them to succeed.
Focused on the cultivation of talent, Ted has also contributed to the growth of the wider business by facilitating the successful acquisitions of several creative agencies across Asia Pacific. These include Dentsu LHS in Malaysia, BC&F Dentsu in New Zealand and Dentsu Jayme Syfu in the Philippines. He continues to plant, nurture and connect Creatives across the region, recognizing the importance of talent at the heart of a successful business.
Driving product excellence, Ted accelerated mobile, digital, innovation and content work that took the concept of advertising to a new level. His work was highlighted in global, regional and local media including TIME magazine, which raised the profile of DBA, positioning the company alongside the industry's top players. This recognition also contributed to the attraction of new business as well as talent.
Part of multiple successful new business pitches, Ted also helped to secure high profile clients across Asia-Pacific including Toyota Southeast Asia, Dulux Southeast Asia, Invisalign APAC, P&G Japan, Toyota India, Yamaha Vietnam, Panasonic Indonesia and got Dentsu on Coca-Cola's Global Charter of Roster Agencies.
His involvement in global and regional advertising festivals and conferences is also a testament to his influence within the industry:
- Jury President - Cannes Direct Lions 2017
- Jury President - Spikes Asia Direct, Promo, Activation and Integrated 2016
- Judge - Cannes Titanium & Integrated Lions 2016 and Clio Awards
- Keynote Speaker - P&G Asia Business Managers College, Singapore

Under Ted's leadership, 2016 was a successful year for DBA APAC who won an unprecedented number of awards at Clio, One Show, D&AD and a record haul of Cannes Lions nominations as well. The number of award-winning offices more than quadrupled, jumping from just two to 12 across APAC. 2016 ended on a high with Dentsu winning the Campaign Agency of the Year Awards in Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam and overall Southeast Asia Creative Agency of the Year.
Ted repositioned Dentsu Brand Agencies as an Innovative Business Solutions partner in 2016 and will continue taking the brand to the next level. He aims to take Dentsu beyond just being an advertising company but hopes to refocus the brand's selling proposition so as to remain competitive and relevant in light of the digital economy.
