Using moving image beyond traditional films

Published by

We had a great time presenting our Beyond Film Seminar and very much hope that those who came along found it informative and engaging. We looked at a number of ways in which new technologies are calling for the techniques and craft of film-making to be applied in new and innovative ways.

Take a look at some of the round up tips below:

*There’s a great deal of excitement and enthusiasm around new technologies: Projection mapping, experiential interactivity and immersive VR and AR experiences. It isn’t dissimilar to the early days of social media channels (or indeed film itself).

*For AR and VR experiences there are some real barriers to entry, both physical and psychological that need to be considered. For AR these include asking people to download an app, or for VR to put on a headset. So the first thing to consider is how your audience is going to access the experience that you are creating. Do you need to supply headsets or will you create an installation for people to access your experience?

*Engaging properly with all stakeholders when commissioning cutting edge communications is key. As with any new project/technology, if stakeholders are unclear about the process, the impact of changes or their expectation of the result, a lot of time and money can be wasted.
