The inspiration for this project was based on my experience in China. As China is known to be a very traditional country, I decided to focus on the architecture known as the temples. The level of detail involved in the temples is intricate and I wanted to portray this element through my work. I focused heavily on the stencil work used in the temples with the aim to develop the 2D designs into 3D, through a geometric theme. My project demonstrated how a traditional temple can be transformed into a contemporary art. It also explores how random and unique shapes can be developed into a 3D form by incorporating geometric thread.
