ABOUT

The nights are drawing in. The weather’s looking pretty grim. But don’t worry, we’ve just launched something that’s sure to get you giggling through the gloom. Simply send a tweet containing the hashtag #Curious4Comedy and the good folk at BBC Radio 4 will send a top notch comedy clip straight back at you.

This serendipitous new way to discover comedy is a result of our pitch winning performance at the BBC’s Digital Challenge Day. Held back in July at BBC’s New Broadcasting House, the event saw POKE battle it out against twenty top digital agencies, all briefed to come up with new ideas to get listeners engaged with Radio 4 in the digital world.

Since our win, we’ve been developing our idea with the Radio 4 marketing and digital teams. If the three week comedy trial is successful it could become a permanent feature, and even cover other genres as well as comedy.

Eva Appelbaum, BBC’s Head of Digital Marketing Lab said: “We are really proud of this campaign and how it feeds people’s curiosity… and hunger for humour. We ran the Digital Challenge Day to boost innovation in our marketing and we loved Poke’s proposal. It is such a clever way to get people listening to and talking about BBC content. Sometimes the best innovation comes from a simple idea, brilliantly executed.”
