ABOUT

Time to #GetPlaylisting
If you’ve got your ear to the ground (or more helpfully, your radio) you may have heard all about the BBC Playlister launch.

With the click of an “add this” button, the nifty new service is now helping music lovers to create personal playlists from the BBC’s vast network of radio stations and export them to Spotify, Youtube or Deezer to listen to later. Users can also discover new tracks through hand-picked recommendations and playlists from top DJs and presenters.

BBC Playlister has now gone live after a successful beta launch, and we’ve been on hand to provide the social strategy and creative direction needed to turn this new and unfamiliar action into an established behaviour for our early adopter audience.

We’ve used a social-first strategy to cover the three main areas (education, awareness and engagement) needed to drive sustainable adoption of the service. Starting with education, we’ve made a series of informative how-to videos featuring trusted BBC DJs. With this in place we’ve then been able to spread awareness and create engagement with a range of content ideas created collaboratively with the BBC editorial team, plus social support, promoted trends and videos.

After several weeks of slowly building momentum, all daytime Radio 1 DJs spent Friday promoting the service.

Follow the story as it plays out across the BBC’s social channels and on-air, and don’t forget to #GetPlaylisting to get more of the music you love.
