ABOUT
Royal Ascot is a very old tradition in the world of racing and social calendar. Ladies day is in fact around 200 years this year. Referred to as Ladies day back in 1823, when poet described the third day, Thursday at Ascot, “Ladies Day, when the women like angels, look sweetly divine”.
Women wear hats or a headpiece of some kind. This is a tradition. These days, they are are mostly fascinators. The wearing of hats were originally a sign of a woman’s affluence. My highlight of the day was captureing the beauty and style of a Japanese women in a pink Kimono with ornate tied Obi, wearing a Awa Odori hat.
