Have you ever had a dream that won't leave you?
Here is a tiger stalking the tea shrubs where once she stalked deer for her tea.

I haven't been to India so research was called for even though in my dream it was all so clear, the mountains, hills, the endless tea shrubs in their neat rows and that blast of orange.
The tiger is hidden or hiding, her head only pops up at intervals to check what is going on.

The tea ladies have fled. All that remains, to show they were once there, is a shawl.

That was my dream. I search books and online for tea slopes and mountains. I found some which matched. Strangely I also found a video online which nearly put me off the whole idea. There was a tiger wading through a tea plantation. Her body could be seen, not just her head. Had I somehow seen this video and just regurgitated it in a dream.
I don't think so but how can one ever be sure? We have so many images in our brains now how can we ever claim to be original any more?

That worries me to be honest. I hate the idea of copying and do my best to avoid it. When I started to draw found medieval stone and wood carvings I was concerned that I was merely copying or stealing someone else's work. It all comes down to intent I think. I was drawing a found object to discover, if I could, the thoughts of the originator. That freed me from guilt.

Back to the Tiger painting - The Project was to catch my Dream. I call it successful. The Painting looks just as I had seen it in my mind. The colours, the mountains the blue of the sky and that head looking puzzled.

Where had all her jungle gone?

About the picture selection: I love chopping up my art-work (metaphorically) to find the Other Pictures within.
