After a series of operations I needed to reconnect with my creative mind. My body had dominated me for many years and I wondered if there was anything left of my creativity? Did I have any inner visions left to explore?
After some stop start attempts I knew that the best way to achieve my aim was to look afresh at my many interest. One of which was medieval wood and stone animal carving. I had always loved their humour and irreverent nature.
During a visit to Tewkesbury I came upon a weathered wooden door, there are many such doors in that old town but one in particular caught my eye and lit a flame of interest. Small decorative carvings of green men, dragons and contorted figures poked fun at the towns folk as they passed by.
These were the start of an ongoing adventure where I try to mimic and feel my way back into the minds of the artists who carved them so long ago. I have only just started this so please forgive the few, as yet, examples I have to offer.
