ABOUT
LESwalk is a street series I started in 2017. Its a series of people walking past a specific wall on the Lower East Side in Manhattan NY. I have for a long time been fascinated by people walking past a wall to see how they interact or don't with the people they are passing, also seeing there posture and styling. My first blog was called 'The Red Wall'. I wanted to see where this was leading me.
Today I am shooting almost on a daily basis these specific 2 walls on the Lower East Side when it became apparent to me how rapidly this are is changing both in structure but more in population, The area has been a down and out area for a long time and has been inhabited with Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Jews, Chinese and street people. These groups are now being pushed out by more affluent groups such as hipsters, art dealers, business people, models and tourists. When I moved to this area about 12 years ago we had one high rise and a couple of inky dinky hotels. Today the new buildings are popping up almost every day and we have about 10 Luxury Hotels at $500-600 per night.
