ABOUT

We couldn’t let Jump’s 30th birthday pass without a celebration … so we organised a very special little party. Invitations went out to current Jump staff and their partners, ex-Jump legends, our regular much-loved freelancers, the old ITN graphics department team and a scattering of our family.

The party took place at the rather cool Mare Street Market King’s Cross which is tucked at the back of Coal Drop Yard’s. And despite some rather dodgy weather and a tube strike, everyone turned up ready to party.

Russell Hilliard - Marketing Director at Jump:

“I’ve had it in mind since Jump’s 29th birthday that we needed to do something special to recognise the 30th birthday. I was looking for venues around Coal Drops Yard for one of our regular JumpDays - and the minute I stepped into the Private Lounge and saw the chandeliers and luxury sofas I knew it would be perfect for us.

Having great food is really important for all of our JumpDay events - who can forget the Christmas parties at FKABAM and Dishoom. But seeing as Mare Street Markets’s Chef Creative Director is the brilliant Gizzi Erskine, there was never any doubt we were going to be in for some proper delicious treats.”

Food on the night included kimchi fritters, salt beef croquettes, cauliflower wings, sliders and a range of pizzas including the incredible collaboration with surf & turf specialists, Island Restaurant - the Hawaiian Junglist pizza - BBQ brown crab with Tamworth pork belly, padron peppers, mozzarella, scamorza cheese and pineapple hot chilli sauce. WOWZER!

Every good party needs some great music and we were very lucky to have the super talented Paul Wilkinson in the DJ Booth spinning a foot-stomping range of funk and disco from his vast vinyl collection. Paul was one of our first ever clients back in the pre-Jump days at ITN but he’s also worked with us as a creative director on many projects over the years. Big thanks to Paul for providing the sexy soundtrack. Check out his ‘Flight Time’ radio shows on Mixcloud.

Jump’s very own Russell Hilliard hopped in the DJ booth after Paul to mix up some housey beats and needless to say House of Pain’s ‘Jump Around’ (a Jump anthem) got the room bouncing.

It was a very special evening seeing so many of the Jump family from over the years getting together again. It’s beautiful that so many people wanted to come celebrate with us and to hear how many ex-Jumpers look back so fondly on their time with us.

Ramiro Esteves - Ex Jumper:

“I want to give you all a massive shout-out. Congratulations on reaching the monumental milestone of 30 years. It’s a mad achievement and it goes without saying that you’ve all worked unbelievably hard to get there. Clearly the fire is still burning because you’re all still pushing forward and working just as hard today.
Jump has had a massive influence on both my life and my career. From teaching me how to grow as a creative, to the simpler but equally important lessons like creating an environment for my team where everyone really feels like family.”

Mare Street Market also has a Karaoke Room, which the team made great use of early on in the evening murdering some well-known pop tunes.

And the Photobooth sitting next to the Private Lounge was filled with fantastic, Jump-themed props created by legendary cartoonist, illustrator, designer, ex-ITN Creative Director and all-round genius, Glenn Marshall.

We hoped everyone would be having too much fun to have their phones out snapping pics so we hired our photographer friend Jack Kitchen to take snaps and record the evening.
