It has been a year of firsts for London Fashion Week. This year the British Fashion Council announced that none of the designers participating in the official schedule would be using fur, so London became the first of the main fashion weeks to ditch it completely. It was also Alexa Chung’s first ever London Fashion Week; she came straight to our studio APEX from the catwalk in a stand-out show. On top of this Victoria Beckham was celebrating 10 years of her label in what was also her first time at LFW.
It was certainly a sustainability-conscious year at London with the official hashtag #positivefashion trending.
With all this going on I wouldn’t blame you for forgetting the real reason we were all there in the first place, the clothes! Here are five of our locations that will provide a perfect backdrop for London Fashion Week trends.
1. VICTORIANA AT VICTORIA PARK
Mary Katrantzou showcased some amazing pieces inspired by classic Victorian styles. Our elegant location in Victoria Park has the same attractive mix of traditional and modern. Originally built in 1860, it is set in picturesque landscaped gardens and parkland. It’s a joy to visit!
2. SPORTSWEAR AT TERRA HALE GYM
Terra Hale Gym is the perfect location to coincide with Fashion Week trends. Not only is it London’s first eco-friendly fitness destination (#positivefashion), but it is also ideal for shooting sportswear in all shapes and sizes. Henry Holland and Preen by Thornton Bregazzi both offered a variety of sportswear this year, and Margaret Howell also collaborated with heritage sportswear brand Fred Perry.
We also couldn’t help but mention Armani’s recent show in Milan, with models carrying stylish surfboards depicting his logo.
3. NEON AT OLD TOWN, CLAPHAM
Jasper Conran, Julien Macdonald, Roksanda, David Koma and Halpern all sent models down the catwalk in bold, bright tones. Erdem even showcased neon shoes! Old Town in Clapham’s muted colours offered a perfect compliment for vibrant designs.
4. PASTELS AT ENID’S HOUSE
Pastels were still going strong at London Fashion Week this year, with looks from Alexa Chung, Bora Aksu, and Paul Costello. Our gorgeous location Enid’s House also channels those soft neutral colours impeccably. It should do! It’s owned by award-winning interior design blogger Kate Watson-Smyth.
5. 1980s AT MAGGIE’S
When did the 1980s ever go out of fashion? At LFW, Emilia Wickstead’s show notes stated ‘feminist fairy tale from the late 80s’ as well as Marco Panconesi for Peter Pilotto and Henry Holland clearly influenced by the styles of the decade. Our location Maggie’s is an '80s themed nightclub with abundant memorabilia and lots of style, ideal for going full 80s in your shoot or film!
